I. Half Day Kratie Town Trail

Day 01: Arrival at Kratie

Extension tour from Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, you will arrive in the late afternoon and will be free at your own leisure. Also one overnight at the hotel in Kratie.

Day 02: Kratie Half Day Tour

Start early in the morning. Hire a bicycle or horse cart and head south of Kratie to catch the bustling Rokakandal Market. Along the way you will pass several houses in Frencn styles.

The larger Kratie town market is open all day, but if you would like to taste the village life, you will find the Phsar Kromourn a great experience. It is a great place to stop for breakfast too. Continue to the old Wat Rokakandal, originally build in the late 18th century. Hand-woven wicker crafts are sold in the stored Vihear. Look for the traditional decorations on the wooden pillars inside, the old timber monks' residence opposite, and a beautiful old stone carving on the river side of the Wat. On the way back to Kratie town, try to spot domesticated Sambar deer in the grounds of the French styled Governor's office on the riverfront. Your cycling tour will be in the Kratie town. Optional tour Koh Trong transfer to Phnom Penh for O/N.

 

 

II. Dolphin Discovery Trail

Day 01: Arrival at Kratie

Extension tour from Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, you will arrive in the late afternoon and will be free at your own leisure. Also one overnight at the hotel in Kratie.

Day 02: Kratie Tour

Heading north to Kampi Dolphins Pool from Kratie, about half the way you will pas the famous sticky rice (Krolan) and pickled raw fish (Nhem) producing villages. Thma Kreae village is particularly famous for his Krolan. This tasty snack is famous all over Cambodia and locals would never leave the Kratie province without buying a stock for their relatives and friends back home. A must to try - at least once.

About 1 Km from Thma Kreae village is Phnom Sambok. Look for the sign on the main road leading inland (on the right) to the base of the Mekong river running off into the distance. The pagoda itself has many interesting paintings.

Continuing 5.5 Km further north from Phnom Sambok is the Kampi Dolphin pool. This is the largest dolphins pool on the Mekong river. Late afternoon or early morning are the most comfortable times to view the rare Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat. There are handicraft sellers at the site who produces wooden carvings for sales. Stop to watch a local artisan carving his next masterpiece. 1 Km further north is Kampi rapids, where you can relax, swim and enjoy the rapids. Return to Kratie at your leisure, taking in the rural scenery.

Day 03: Kratie Tour

After breakfast at the hotel you will transfer to Phnom Penh of Laos border (End service).

 

 

 

III. Half Day to Koh Trong Island

* Half day tour in the afternoon from Phnom Penh, Stung Treng

* Half day tour in the morning on the next day

Half Day: Kratie - Koh Trong (Island)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the port to Koh Trong where an island is situated in the middle of the Mekong River, directly opposite from Kratie Town. 09 Km loop road around the island’s perimeter, provides opportunities for visitors to leisurely cycle through traditional Khmer villages, fruits orchards and rice fields while observing the daily rituals and routines of the traditional village life. Heading north to the top of the island, you will turn left and head inland. Not far along this path you will come across a pagoda, Wat Ty Pram Kbal Koh Tong, here you will find a tree planting rehabilitation project. For very little cost you get a tree seedling, small shovel and a piece of land to plant your own family tree, as well as a wooden name plaque to put your name. Then you continue to enjoy a break at the Mekong Discovery trail rest shelter. And cycling through the rural heart of the island once more and you can enjoy the views of crops and rice fields. Then you will return to the T-junction in the Kratie town. You will eventually arrive at a Vietnamese style pagoda Tov Te Ang, that overlooks a small floating village. O/N at homestay or community or return to hotel.
