RV Mekong

The windowed twin cabins (roughly 12 sq. meters) are beautifully appointed with teakwood walls, raised beds with ample storage below, and private bathrooms with tiled showers. Outside each cabin are wicker chairs and tables from which to enjoy the passing scenery. A unique feature of this vessel is the Low Deck single cabins that are available for our solo travelers! The ship has a single sitting restaurant, a bar and an outside sun deck with both covered and open areas which afford the best river viewing from comfortable upholstered lounge chairs. Full buffet breakfasts and lunches, as well as served dinners, feature Western and Asian cuisine. The 29 member crew is a mix of Vietnamese, Cambodia, and Burmese along with a European cruise director. Their smiles and eager to please attitudes truly enhance this soft adventure on the Mekong River.
From Laos the river descends onto the Cambodian plain, where it receives water from the Tonle Sap Lake during the dry season by way of the Tonle Sap River During the rainy season the floodwaters of the Mekong reverse the direction of the Tonle Sap River and flow into the Tonle Sap Lake, a natural reservoir over 150km in length and rich in fishing grounds. The Mekong finally flows into the South China Sea through many distributaries in the vast Mekong Delta. The Delta, which covers an area of 194,250 sq km, is criss-crossed by many channels and canals and is one of the greatest rice-growing areas of Asia. It is a densely populated region with Saigon located just to the east of the Delta.
