VISA ON ARRIVAL:
The Visa Application process by assisting Visa-on-Arrival. According to the Deputy Minister of Hotels and Tourism - "Any application for tourist visa from any country is OK and we will assist each application to obtain Visa Approval in a timely manner". Visa-on-arrival can be obtained through Ministry of Hotels and Tourism by filling online forms on this web site. Tourists are required to have bought a tour package* from any authorized tour operator.
This special program is mainly for countries and cities where there is no Myanmar Embassy nor mission abroad.Tourists coming to Myanmar can fill out secured online form to submit application. Processing time is normally 7 working days (see Myanmar Holidays). Application with shorter lead time can be submitted although chances of getting approved is narrow. However, last minute application can also be submitted at a premium and 5 working days ahead. Chances of getting approved within 5 days is very slim.

PASSPORT & VISA:
A tourist visa for Myanmar can be obtained from any Myanmar Embassy or Consulate world- wide. Visas are valid for 28 days can be issued the same day (sometimes within 20 minutes) they are applied for.Two types of visa are available –the "FIT visa" and the "Package Tour Visa". An "FIT visa" requires the holder to purchase $300 worth of Foreign Exchange Certificates (FEC) upon arrival. Within Myanmar, FEC are interchangeable with US Dollars (FEC1=US$1) but they cannot be changed back into US Dollars at the end of your stay. If traveling on a " Package Tour Visa " no such FEC purchase is required.
If you have pre-booked your holiday to Myanmar through a tour Operator, a letter can be obtained from a local agent in Myanmar confirming to the relevant Myanmar Embassy that a " Package Tour Visa" should be issued.

AIRPORT TAX:

As is the case at most international airports, there is an international departure tax. In Yangon, US$/FEC10 per person is payable for departures on international flights. There are currently no airport taxes for domestic flights

SAFETY & SECURITY:

According to United Nations statistics, Myanmar enjoys one of the world’s lowest crime rates, ranking well above Europe and other mainstream Asian destinations in terms of personal safety.

CLIMATE:
Myanmar's climate is tropical: during the cool season from late November through February, temperature are pleasantly mild ranging from 21 C to 28 C; the hot season from March to May can see mercury reach as high as 45 C; and during the months of the rainy season, from June to October short rainstorms are frequent in the late afternoons.

CURRENCY:
Myanmar currency is known as " Kyat " which comprises 100 pyas.Visitors can change their dollars into FEC (Foreign Exchange Certificate which is equal to US Dollars), and then can change their FEC legally into Kyat at the real market rate at licensed money changer shops.Travelers checks are NOT normally accepted and are difficult to transact. Travelers are advised to bring US Dollars in cash (small denomination notes). British Pounds, French Frances, German Deutsh Marks and other currencies are difficult to change. Bring US Dollars cash. Major hotels and a few restaurants will accept credit cards.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE:
Visitors may bring in any mount of foreign currency but it must be declared to the customs if it exceeds US $2000. Foreign Exchange Certificates can be purchased with US Dollar or Pounds Sterling either in cash or Travelers Cheque. FECs are accepted by hotels, airlines, travel agencies, taxis, restaurants and s payment of admission fees for museums, and pagodas. FECs can be exchanged for Kyats at market rates at Authorized Money Changers.

HOW TO REACH AT MYANMAR:
Scheduled domestic flights are available through Air Mandalay, Yangon Airways and Air Bagan to Mandalay, Bagan, Thandwe, Heho, Sittwe, Tachilek, Myiek, Kawthoung and other destinations. Other modes of transport are train and bus (citywide and long distance), taxi and trishaw.
